Manager – tea testing & purchasing

We are a well-established group of companies in Sri Lanka, seeking professional, outgoing and experienced individuals to support our ongoing and upcoming tea export projects.

Our fast-growing tea export company seeks an experienced manager to lead tea tasting and purchasing operations, with a focus on specialty SEMI LEAFY teas.

Key responsibilities

• Taste and evaluate specialty SEMI LEAFY category teas for quality, flavour, aroma and appearance.
• Purchase teas at the Colombo Tea Auction to meet client specifications and market demand.
• Maintain supplier relationships and competitive purchasing standards.
• Prepare tasting assessments and purchasing records.

Requirements

• Minimum five years’ experience in tea tasting and purchasing at the Colombo Tea Auction.
• Proven expertise in tasting and purchasing specialty SEMI LEAFY category teas.
• Strong knowledge of tea grades, market trends and export requirements.
• Excellent sensory judgement, negotiation and communication skills.
