Senior DevOps Engineer

Responsibilities

1. Incident management: Handle escalations for complex infrastructure incidents, performance degradation, deployments, and recovery actions.
2. CI/CD ownership: Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and delivery for multiple projects.
3. Infrastructure automation: Implement and manage infrastructure-as-code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
4. Environment provisioning: Set up and manage AWS environments (development, staging, production) to support reliable and consistent deployments.
5. Release governance: Oversee deployment processes, version control, and release validation to maintain stability across environments.
6. Monitoring & performance: Configure and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging tools (e.g., CloudWatch, ELK, Grafana) to ensure system reliability.
7. Support & troubleshooting: Participate in a defined on-call or escalation rota for urgent fixes, hot deployments, and infrastructure-level troubleshooting when required.
8. Security & compliance: Apply AWS best practices in security, access control, and configuration management.
9. Collaboration: Work closely with development, QA, and operations teams to improve deployment efficiency and platform reliability.

Requirements & skills

1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
2. Minimum 5 years of experience in a DevOps or cloud engineering role
3. Strong working knowledge of AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, VPC, load balancers, Route 53, and related services
4. Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline)
5. Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform or CloudFormation)
6. Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting experience, including services, logs, permissions, networking, and system performance analysis
7. Experience with Docker and containerized workloads using ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes
8. Scripting skills in Bash, Python, or PowerShell
9. Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions
10. Solid understanding of networking concepts and cloud security fundamentals
11. Strong understanding of Git workflows, branching strategies, pull requests, release tagging, and rollback practices
