Transport coordination team lead

Key responsibilities

  1. Order management: Promptly book and place land transport orders with external shipping/trucking companies as soon as auction units are won.
  2. Vendor coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for external transport providers; negotiate rates, monitor deadlines, and ensure timely pickups.
  3. Tracking & monitoring: Track the status of all vehicles in transit from the auction houses to our yard, proactively resolving any delays, gate pass issues, or booking errors.
  4. Cost control: Review and verify transport invoices against agreed rates before passing them to the accounting team.
  5. Data management: Keep our internal tracking system accurately updated with vehicle locations, estimated arrival times, and delivery confirmations.

Qualifications & requirements

  1. Experience: 2-3 years of experience in logistics coordination, third-party vendor management, or the Japanese automotive export industry.
  2. Industry knowledge: Familiarity with major Japanese auto auctions and established land transport networks is value added advantage.
  3. Languages: Fluent/business-level Japanese (essential for negotiating and communicating with Japanese transport companies) and conversational English for internal team communication is value added advantage.
  4. Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
  5. Tech savvy: Proficient in Excel, Google Sheets, ERP and CRM/inventory management software.
