About the role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented SMSF specialist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of self-managed superannuation funds (SMSFs), ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and delivering high-quality service to clients.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare SMSF financial statements and annual accounts.
- Prepare SMSF annual returns and supporting workpapers.
- Process and reconcile fund transactions, including contributions, pensions, rollovers, investments, and benefit payments.
- Ensure compliance with SIS legislation, ATO requirements, and other regulatory obligations.
- Liaise with trustees, auditors, financial advisers, and accountants regarding fund matters.
- Prepare pension documentation and member reports.
- Monitor compliance issues and identify potential breaches.
- Assist with SMSF establishment, restructuring, and wind-up processes.
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation.
- Stay informed of changes in superannuation legislation and industry developments.
Skills and experience
- Previous experience in SMSF accounting and administration.
- Strong knowledge of SMSF compliance and superannuation legislation.
- Experience with SMSF software such as Class Super, BGL Simple Fund 360, or similar platforms.
- Sound understanding of Australian taxation and accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and client relationship management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA, CA, IPA qualification or progress towards professional accreditation is desirable.
- Previous experience in a public practice accounting firm is preferred.
