Responsibilities

The Assistant Director Finance will be responsible to assist in the smooth functioning of the Division and major responsibilities inter-alia includes:

  • Ensuring timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with SLFRS/LKAS/SLPAS and applicable regulations.
  • Overseeing budgeting, financial planning, treasury operations, and financial reporting functions.
  • Ensuring compliance with tax laws and statutory obligations including VAT, SSCL and Income Tax.
  • Monitoring cash flow, investments and banking relationships.
  • Ensuring compliance with governance requirements and applicable laws.
  • Assisting in the formulation and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and internal control systems.

Requirements

The candidate should:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree with a class in finance / accounting from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka or be a member of a recognized professional accounting body. Masters qualification and/or a doctorate (PhD) will be an added advantage;
  • Possess a minimum of eight (8) years of senior managerial and/or managerial level experience in finance and/or accounting. Knowledge/experience in government finance and administrative procedures will be an advantage; and
  • Be articulate, analytical and decisive, with excellent communication skills in English, Sinhala and/or Tamil, and be computer literate. Candidates should be between 30–50 years of age. The upper age limit will not apply to internal applicants or those from government sector institutions. Candidates should demonstrate strong commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering assigned responsibilities within the stipulated timeframes.
