Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team on a remote basis. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for managing payroll processes accurately and efficiently, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time, while maintaining compliance with current payroll legislation and submitting pensions/NEST contributions in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in payroll
- Experience using Sage payroll software (preferred)
- Strong understanding of UK payroll processes, including PAYE and pensions
- Ability to work independently and meet strict payroll deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Confident communicating directly with clients in English
Key responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Processing payroll accurately and in a timely manner
- Maintaining and updating payroll records
- Handling payroll-related queries from clients and employees
- Ensuring compliance with current payroll regulations and legislation
- Managing workload effectively to meet all payroll deadlines
- Assisting with VAT returns and Self-Assessment submissions
- Supporting the preparation of statutory and management accounts
