The Neelan Tiruchelvam Trust (NTT) is a Sri Lankan organization that provides grants to and strengthens the capacity of civil society organizations with the vision ‘to establish and protect a just, equitable and peaceful society’. Since its inception in 2000, the NTT has supported initiatives throughout the country and on a wide array of issues related to social justice and peacebuilding through grant making, and capacity and discourse building.
Duties and responsibilities
- The Finance Officer (FO) will work closely with the Manager, Finance and Administration (MFA) and other members of the team.
- Perform financial routines e.g. receipts, payments voucher, petty cash and keep financial records.
- Assist the organisation with internal and external audits.
- Assist MFA to develop and provide monthly financial reporting including quarterly financial reports for finance and investment committee meetings and board meetings, as well as monthly cash flow forecasts and projections.
- Monitor annual budgets and expenditures and contribute to the preparation and revision of budgets.
- Maintain the accounting reporting process, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of ledgers and all supporting documentation and compliance with finance and procurement regulations.
- Maintain all finance related documentation including receipt books, payment vouchers, lease & service agreements, insurance, office equipment etc.
- Ensure all procurement processes are in compliance with NTT’s procurement policy.
Qualifications, education and experience
- Part CIMA/ICA qualification or any other finance accounting/management qualification from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar capacity preferably in the profit or non-profit/NGO sector. Prior experience in an audit firm will be an advantage.
- Experience in MS Windows with MS Office, mainly in word processing, spreadsheet software including proficiency in e-mail and internet usage.
- Experience or working knowledge of accounting packages preferably QuickBooks will be a definite advantage.

- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Fluency in Tamil and/or Sinhala will be an added advantage.
- Sound skills in MS Windows with MS Office, mainly in word processing, spreadsheet software, including proficiency in e-mail and internet usage.
- Ability and willingness to travel to all areas of the country independently and work with people of all communities.
Salary scale
The basic salary for this position is between LKR 75,000.00 and LKR 180,000.00, depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. In addition to the basic salary, the selected candidate will be eligible for additional allowances, benefits and will be included in the staff medical insurance package.
