A Demi Chef De Partie assists in managing a specific section of the kitchen. They are responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining hygiene standards, and supporting senior chefs in daily kitchen operations.
Key responsibilities
- Food preparation
- Prepare, cook, and present menu items in accordance with established recipes and required high standards.
- Hygiene & safety
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly adhere to health and safety regulations, including food storage.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation.
- Ensure proper use of kitchen equipment.
- Supervision & training
- Assist in leading, training, and mentoring junior commis chefs and apprentices.
- Stock control
- Help manage inventory levels for the section, monitoring food freshness and minimizing waste.
- Team collaboration
- Work closely with the culinary team, communicating with senior chefs on production needs.
- Comply with health and safety regulations.
Skills & requirements
- Basic culinary qualification or equivalent experience
- 1-3 years’ experience in a professional kitchen
- Knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Attention to detail and consistency
