Head of Projects – Greenfield Dairy Plant Development

The Head of Projects – Greenfield Dairy Plant Development will lead the planning, design, execution, and commissioning of a new dairy manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka. The role involves managing large-scale industrial development projects, overseeing multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams, ensuring effective project controls, and delivering the project within approved budgets, timelines, quality standards, and safety requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
2. Minimum 12–15 years of project management experience, preferably in industrial or manufacturing projects.
3. Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale industrial or manufacturing projects valued at USD 15 million or more.
4. Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering, construction, and project delivery teams.
5. Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and project control systems.
6. Experience in greenfield facility development, plant construction, and commissioning would be an advantage.
7. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
8. Strong understanding of quality assurance, health and safety standards, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

1. Lead the end-to-end development of the greenfield dairy plant, from initial planning and design through construction, installation, and commissioning.
2. Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and delivery milestones.
3. Oversee multidisciplinary engineering, construction, procurement, and contractor teams.
4. Monitor project progress, costs, quality, and performance against approved plans.
5. Implement effective project control systems to identify delays, cost overruns, risks, and corrective actions.
6. Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers, regulatory authorities, and senior management.
7. Ensure compliance with applicable building regulations, environmental requirements, industrial safety standards, and quality requirements.
8. Manage procurement activities, contract administration, and supplier performance.
9. Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
10. Lead plant installation, testing, commissioning, and handover to operational teams.
11. Provide regular project status reports, budget updates, and progress reviews to senior management.
12. Ensure the project meets operational readiness, quality, safety, and business objectives.
