Naturalist

Responsibilities

1. Conduct nature walks, birdwatching sessions, and interpretive kayak rides to educate guests about local flora, fauna, and ecosystems.
2. Develop storytelling techniques to enhance cultural and ecological understanding.
3. Curate seasonal experiences, such as fish market tours, night walks, or stargazing sessions.
4. Lead and participate in environmental conservation projects, including habitat restoration and biodiversity enhancement.
5. Promote and oversee recycling initiatives and waste management programs at the property.
6. Engage and assist with the upkeep of Club Palm Bay’s natural surroundings.
7. Foster relationships with local communities and artisans, incorporating their knowledge and traditions into guest experiences.
8. Document guest experiences, wildlife sightings, and conservation projects through photography, short videos, and blog posts.

Prerequisites

1. Degree/diploma in wildlife conservation, environmental science, tourism, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
2. Proven experience as a naturalist, field guide, or eco-tourism expert.
3. Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan biodiversity, tea plantation history, and local cultural heritage.
4. Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
5. Passion for sustainability and community engagement.
6. Ability to engage with a diverse range of guests, from nature enthusiasts to leisure seekers.
7. Proficiency in English (fluency in Sinhala/Tamil is a plus).
8. First aid certification is an advantage.
