Legal Officer

SMB Leashg PLC is a specälised leasing company listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange. We are looking for a result-oriented, self-motivated, and dynamic individual with the highest standard of personal discipline, ethics, and integrity to join our team as Legal Officer directly reporting to the Head of the Legal Department.

The Person

• Attorney-at-Law who aspire to a professional career in the private sector
• Experience in money recovery action, conveyancing, and land registry searches
• Should be an energetic person with high interpersonal skills and a self-starter who can work with minimum supervision in a methodical and organized manner
• Willingness and ability to work extra hours when required
• Permanent resident of the Colombo District with a notary license to practice in the judicial zone of Colombo
• Age below 40 years
• Aptitude to work in an electronically networked and integrated systems environment
• A person conversant with MS Excel and MS Word is preferred
• Having a Degree in Law is an added advantage

key responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing, and filing pleadings and all other necessary documents relating to Money Recovery Action
• Appear in courts and other tribunals on behalf of the Company
• Liaising with Counsels, Land Registries, Courts Registries, customers, other departments, and branches
• Drafting, reviewing, executing, and attesting deeds, agreements, and other legal documents
• Attending Land Registry searches and preparing title reports
