Transport Manager | Assistant Transport Manager

Job role

1. Maintain and update accurate records of all vehicles and vehicle related incidents including, services, repairs etc.
2. Monitor vehicle movements, fuel usage, and consumption rates in line with company policies and operational guidelines.
3. Coordinate and arrange routine maintenance, repairs, and servicing to ensure fleet reliability and minimal downtime.
4. Conduct vehicle inspections and test runs to identify technical or operational issues.
5. Coordinate with all departments & HODs to determine the transport requirements & schedule transport to meet their requirements.
6. Plan, coordinate, and manage daily transport operations across the group to ensure the timely and cost-effective movement of goods and personnel.
7. Oversee fleet management activities, including vehicle allocation, preventive maintenance scheduling, fuel efficiency monitoring, and optimum vehicle utilization.
8. Ensure compliance with transport regulations, safety standards, insurance requirements, licensing, and other statutory obligations.
9. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to maintain smooth transport operations and service delivery.
10. Prepare transport-related reports, analyze operational data, and recommend improvements for efficiency and cost control.
11. Proficiency in MS Office package and experience with transport or fleet management systems will be an added advantage.

Qualifications

1. A male candidate is preferred.
2. A diploma or degree in logistics, business management or related field.
3. At least 2 years’ experience in similar capacity.
4. Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan transport regulations and safety standards.
5. Proven experience in managing fleets, drivers, and operational costs.
6. Good leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
