Trainee – Quantity Surveyor

Key duties & responsibilities

1. Assist in quantity take-offs and preparation of bills of quantities (BOQs).
2. Support the preparation of cost estimates and project budgets.
3. Assist in tender documentation, bid evaluations, and subcontractor comparisons.
4. Maintain and update project cost records and documentation.
5. Coordinate with site teams to track project progress and material usage.
6. Assist in the preparation of interim valuations and final accounts.
7. Support in verifying contractor and supplier invoices.
8. Perform general administrative and reporting tasks related to QS functions.

Job requirements

1. NVQ level 4 qualification in quantity surveying or a related field.
2. Basic understanding of construction processes, materials, and costing methods.
3. Familiarity with measurements, BOQs (bills of quantities), and tender documentation.
4. Proficiency in MS Excel and basic computer applications.
5. Strong numerical, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.
6. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
8. Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced construction environment.
