Key responsibilities
Bookkeeping and transaction management
- Maintain accurate records of daily financial transactions using Xero and Sage.
- Process and reconcile bank, credit card, and petty cash transactions.
- Manage sales and purchase ledgers, including invoicing, supplier payments, and credit control, using Dext.
- Record payroll journals from internal systems or external payroll providers.
- Post accruals, prepayments, and other month-end journal entries.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including control and intercompany accounts.
VAT and compliance
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in line with HMRC’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
- Ensure correct VAT treatment for transactions, including reverse charge and other applicable rules.
- Maintain documentation and audit trails for VAT compliance.
Management reporting
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts including:
- Profit and loss statement
- Balance sheet
- Cash flow forecasts
- Budget vs actual variance reports
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting in collaboration with internal teams and clients.
- Support clients with financial insights and performance analysis.
