Senior accountant

Key responsibilities

1. Supervise joiner staff in handling daily accounting tasks in QuickBooks (QB), ensuring accuracy and timely posting of transactions.
2. Guide and review the work of accounts executives and junior accounting staff.
3. Manage day-to-day accounting operations such as payables, receivables, and general ledger maintenance.
4. Prepare and review monthly financial reports, reconciliations, and schedules.
5. Assist in the preparation of management accounts and financial statements.
6. Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
7. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and statutory requirements.
8. Handle tax-related matters including VAT, PAYE, and withholding tax filings.
9. Liaise with banks, auditors, and regulatory bodies, providing all necessary documentation and clarifications.
10. Participate in budget preparation, variance analysis, and cost monitoring.
11. Provide operational and financial insights to management for effective decision-making.

Requirements and qualifications

1. Fully or partially qualified in CA, CIMA, or ACCA, or holding a degree in accountancy from a recognized university.
2. Minimum 4 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in the commercial sector.
3. Strong knowledge of QuickBooks (QB) and other accounting software.
4. Excellent understanding of financial reporting, bank reconciliations, and taxation.
5. High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
6. Proficient in MS Excel and other accounting systems.
7. Strong analytical and logical thinking skills with a positive attitude.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with internal teams, management, auditors, and banks.
