Resident Engineer (Client’s Representative)

A reputed development group engaged in multiple high-end projects invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Resident Engineer to represent the client in managing its ongoing and upcoming developments. The selected candidate will be stationed full-time at the project sites in Colombo, Ella and other suburbs.

Key responsibilities

1. Act as the client’s principal representative at site level across group projects.
2. Report directly to the board of directors on progress, quality, cost, and program.
3. Coordinate and liaise effectively with consultants, contractors, quantity surveyors, and site teams.
4. Conduct and prepare minutes of weekly progress and coordination meetings.
5. Oversee design implementation, quality control, HSE compliance, and contractual adherence.
6. Supervise site operations and monitor overall project performance.
7. Provide technical guidance and ensure timely resolution of site issues.
8. Verify contractor claims, variations, and ensure contractual obligations are met.

Qualifications & experience

1. B.Sc. degree in civil engineering from a recognized university.
2. Master’s degree in project management or construction management (mandatory).
3. Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience in building and infrastructure projects.
4. Familiarity with standard bidding documents (SBD) contract conditions and proven experience in contractual correspondence, letter writing, and report preparation are essential.
5. Prior experience in resort development projects in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
6. Ability to coordinate with multiple contractors and drive teams to meet defined targets.
7. Experience in MEP works and maintenance.
