Project Manager

About the role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced professional to serve as Project Manager for an island-wide health training programme implemented in collaboration with national stakeholders. This is a key leadership position responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and delivery of the programme.

Key responsibilities

1. Provide overall leadership and management of the project.
2. Coordinate and supervise implementation of all project activities and training programmes.
3. Prepare reports and presentations for the Coordinating Committee, Technical Committee, and relevant consultants.
4. Ensure quality implementation and monitoring of field activities.
5. Supervise field teams and oversee timely delivery of project outputs.
6. Lead stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
7. Oversee project finance planning and budget monitoring.
8. Ensure timely achievement of project objectives and fulfilment of reporting requirements.

Required competencies

1. Demonstrated experience in team leadership and project governance.
2. Strong project management, reporting, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
3. Experience working with UN agencies and government institutions is an advantage.
4. Excellent presentation and report writing abilities.
5. Proven experience in project monitoring and evaluation.
6. Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
7. Strong organisational and communication skills.
8. Excellent command of English and Sinhala; proficiency in Tamil is an advantage.

Required qualifications & experience

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualifications in Business Administration, Project Management, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or Developmental Studies.
2. At least 5 years of experience in project management.
3. At least 2 years of experience managing high-intensity, national-level projects.
4. Experience in health education or community engagement projects is an advantage.
