About the company

GIM General Trading & Construction (Pvt) Ltd is a fast-growing company engaged in construction, infrastructure development, engineering services, and material supply operations across Sri Lanka. We are looking for a dynamic and result-oriented procurement officer to strengthen our purchasing and supply chain operations.

Key responsibilities

1. Knowledge on construction materials (aggregates, sand, cement, asphalt, steel, hardware, etc.).
2. Local market rates and procurement procedures.
3. Source and negotiate with suppliers and vendors.
4. Obtain quotations and compare prices for construction materials.
5. Prepare purchase orders and procurement documentation.
6. Coordinate all tenders and quotations.
7. Maintain supplier records and procurement reports.
8. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, stores, and logistics teams.
9. Ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality standards.
10. Support project budgeting and cost control activities.
11. Maintain proper procurement documentation and compliance procedures.

Requirements

1. Diploma / degree in supply chain management, procurement, business administration, construction management, or related field.
2. Minimum 2-5 years of experience in procurement or purchasing within the construction industry.
3. Good knowledge of construction materials and local supplier networks.
4. Strong negotiation and communication skills.
5. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
6. Good analytical and organizational skills.
7. Experience in road, building, or infrastructure projects will be an added advantage.

Software skills

1. Microsoft Excel & MS Office package.
2. ERP / inventory management systems.
3. Knowledge of BOQ and construction documentation will be an added advantage.
