Material Engineer

Key responsibilities

1. Select, evaluate, and develop leather materials and accessories suitable for footwear, bags, and leather goods.
2. Conduct material testing and analysis for performance, durability, and compliance.
3. Work with tanneries, suppliers, and vendors to ensure quality, consistency, and sustainability.
4. Support product development and process optimization with material solutions.
5. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry standards.
6. Maintain material records, test reports, and technical documentation.
7. Collaborate with R&D, production, quality, and design teams.

Requirements

1. B.Sc./B.Eng. in materials engineering, leather technology, chemical engineering, or related field.
2. 01 – 03 years of experience in leather material selection, testing, or development.
3. Knowledge of leather types, tanning processes, finishes, and performance standards.
4. Proficiency in material testing instruments (physical, chemical, and mechanical).
5. Understanding of leather quality grades, defects, and industry regulations.
6. Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
