Manager – Transport & Fleet Management
FPA Sri Lanka is on the lookout for a the manager – transport & fleet management is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all transportation and fleet operations of the organization. The role ensures efficient utilization of vehicles, cost-effective operations, compliance with transport regulations, and timely service delivery to support business operations.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the organization’s entire fleet operations including vehicles, drivers, and transport schedules.
- Ensure efficient utilization of vehicles and minimize operational costs.
- Develop and implement fleet management policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules and ensure timely servicing and repairs.
- Supervise drivers and transport staff, including performance management and discipline.
- Ensure compliance with all transport laws, insurance requirements, and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of fuel consumption, mileage, repairs, and fleet expenses.
- Optimize routing and scheduling to improve efficiency and reduce delays.
- Liaise with internal departments to meet transportation requirements.
- Manage procurement and replacement of vehicles as required.
- Prepare periodic reports on fleet performance and cost analysis.
Candidate profile & job requirements
Educational qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher diploma in logistics, transport management, business administration, or related field (professional certification in fleet/transport management will be an advantage).
Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in transport or fleet management.
- Experience in managing a medium to large fleet operation.
- Proven supervisory/managerial experience.
Skills & competencies
- Strong knowledge of fleet operations and transport regulations.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding of cost control and budgeting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and fleet management systems.
Other requirements
- Ability to work flexible hours when required.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance standards.
- Valid driving license (preferred).
