Head of Internal Audit & Business Processes

About the company

Our client is a leading manufacturer listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange. Due to ongoing expansion, they are on the lookout for a dynamic and results-oriented individual.

Key responsibilities

1. Develop group internal audit scope in consultation with sector CEO’s and audit committee.
2. Supervise and perform audit procedures, including identifying and defining issues, developing criteria, reviewing and analyzing evidence.
3. Conduct interviews, review documents, develop and administer surveys, review and prepare working papers and compose formal audit reports.
4. Establish and maintain an effective relationship with the management team so that internal audit is seen as a trusted advisor to the business.
5. Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all sectors. Further, improvement to existing business processes where necessary to improve effectiveness and efficiency with the intention to reduce business risks and operating costs.
6. Understand key components of risks (internal and external) and ensure that these areas are reviewed and tested as appropriate. Develop risk mitigation strategies to minimize business risks.
7. Effectively communicate key findings with the audit committee of all listed companies, management, external auditors and other external operators.
8. Participation in special projects and assignments as necessary.

The ideal candidate profile

1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or related field and associate member of CA.
2. Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a position of managing and performing internal audits and/or related functions with a leading audit firm and in the manufacturing sector.
3. Age between 35 to 45 years.
4. Knowledge in the areas but not limited to companies act, IRD regulations and SLASB reporting requirements.
5. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
6. Need to be an expert in Excel data mining skills as this job will require you to analyze various scenarios for sector reporting.
7. Excellent listening, verbal, written and presentation skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
8. Familiarity with major business processes including those related to manufacturing.
9. Passion for continual improvement.
