Group Manager – Industrial Engineering

About the company

Crystal Martin Ceylon (Private) Limited is a subsidiary company of the Hong Kong based Crystal International Group Limited, having 06 apparel manufacturing facilities island wide and providing employment to 5000 employees. This is a strategic leadership role with responsibility for driving efficiency, productivity, and manufacturing excellence while developing and guiding people across all factories. The AGM-IE will ensure the right technical systems, processes, and coaching frameworks are in place to deliver continuous improvements and long-term business results.

Duties & responsibilities

Manufacturing excellence & efficiency

1. Drive factory-wide manufacturing excellence programs with a focus on efficiency, quality, and sustainable results.
2. Oversee machine management, utilization, and preventive maintenance coordination to ensure maximum uptime.
3. Lead capacity planning, line balancing, and workflow optimization to meet business requirements.
4. Manage SMV costing, productivity analysis, and method studies for new and ongoing styles.
5. Introduce and sustain process optimization systems that minimize waste, improve throughput, and reduce downtime.
6. Conduct technical audits, line studies, and Gemba walks to ensure best practices are consistently applied.
7. Lead & effectively deliver automation & innovation requirements.

People leadership, coaching & collaboration

1. Provide strong people management and leadership across IE teams, supervisors, and operators.
2. Act as a coach and mentor, developing future leaders and enhancing technical capability within the workforce.
3. Build a culture of discipline, accountability, teamwork, and collaboration across all factories.
4. Motivate and guide operators and supervisors in skill development, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
5. Ensure effective collaboration with cross-functional teams (production, merchandising, quality, planning) to align operations with business needs.
6. Be a visible leader on the shop floor, maintaining strong communication with both senior management and operators.

Performance & business impact

1. Deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, productivity, and cost reduction across operations.
2. Ensure robust systems for KPI tracking, analysis, and reporting at group and factory level.
3. Monitor headcount planning and manpower allocation to align with capacity requirements.
4. Partner with product development and merchandising teams for smooth style introduction, sample-to-bulk transition, and scalability.
5. Support automation and technology integration to strengthen efficiency and competitiveness.

Qualifications & experience

1. Diploma or bachelor’s in industrial engineering or a related discipline.
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior industrial engineering leadership role in apparel manufacturing.
3. Proven track record in manufacturing excellence, machine management, and productivity improvement.
4. Demonstrated ability as a coach and people leader – skilled at managing diverse teams, developing talent, and building.

Collaborative work environments

1. Strong communication, presentation, and conflict-management skills with the ability to influence all levels of the organization.
2. Analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of delivering both strategic direction and hands-on problem-solving.
