Role overview

The business development manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across strategic industrial segments, while strengthening relationships with key clients and partners. The role requires a strong commercial mindset, industry knowledge, and the ability to position Bureau Veritas’ portfolio of services effectively.

Key responsibilities

  1. Develop and execute a business development strategy aligned with BV industry services’ growth objectives
  2. Identify and penetrate high-potential market segments (e.g., oil & gas, power & energy, infrastructure, manufacturing)
  3. Build and manage key account relationships with major industrial clients and stakeholders
  4. Drive sales pipeline development, lead generation, and conversion to achieve revenue targets
  5. Promote BV’s inspection, testing, certification, and asset integrity solutions
  6. Collaborate with technical and operational teams to tailor solutions for clients
  7. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities
  8. Support tendering, proposals, negotiations, and contract finalization
  9. Ensure alignment with BV’s quality, compliance, and ethical standards

Candidate profile

  1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field (MBA is an advantage)
  2. Minimum 8–12 years of experience in business development, sales, or key account management within industrial sectors
  3. Age: 35 years to 45 years
  4. Strong understanding of industry services / TIC environment (inspection, certification, QA/QC, asset integrity, etc.)
  5. Established network within Sri Lanka’s industrial, energy, or infrastructure sectors and exposure in Maldives is a definite advantage.
  6. Proven track record of achieving revenue growth and business targets
  7. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  8. Self-driven, strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen
