Assistant Manager | Senior Executive – Quality Assurance (Meethirigala)

Key responsibilities and duties

1. Support and maintain the company’s quality assurance, food safety, and environmental management systems in compliance with FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP, SLS standards, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 requirements.
2. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements throughout production and distribution processes.
3. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, food safety, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
4. Monitor and oversee quality control operations to ensure consistent compliance with food safety and quality standards.
5. Coordinate internal, external, customer, and certification audits while ensuring effective closure of non-conformities.
6. Develop, implement, review, and monitor QA policies, SOPs, corrective actions, and preventive action plans.
7. Identify quality and environmental risks and implement strategic improvement programs.
8. Coordinate closely with production, supply chain, R&D, maintenance, and operations teams to maintain superior quality standards.
9. Coordinate with the quality assurance manager and QA team to achieve departmental objectives and operational excellence.
10. Handle customer complaints professionally and ensure effective root cause analysis and corrective actions.
11. Ensure strict compliance with hygiene, sanitation, workplace safety, and environmental sustainability practices.

Qualifications and experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in food science, agriculture science, animal science, or any related discipline from a recognized university.
2. Minimum 5+ years’ experience in quality assurance in food manufacturing environment.
3. Strong knowledge of food safety management systems, quality management systems and environmental management systems.
4. Sound understanding of FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards.
5. Experience in handling certification audits, supplier audits, and regulatory compliance activities.
6. Strong leadership, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to work independently and manage multiple operational priorities effectively.
8. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as a team player.
