Assistant Librarian (Systems)

Are you passionate about supporting academic excellence and enhancing access to knowledge? We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Librarian (Systems) to support the management and development of the university’s digital library systems and services, contributing to teaching, learning, and research excellence.

The role

  1. Assist in administering and maintaining the Library Management System (LMS) and related digital platforms.
  2. Support the management of electronic resources, including e-journals, databases, and institutional repositories.
  3. Provide first-level technical support for library systems and troubleshoot user issues.
  4. Assist in digital cataloguing and the implementation of metadata standards (e.g., MARC21, Dublin Core).
  5. Support system upgrades, data migration, and system integrations.
  6. Conduct user training sessions for students and staff on digital library resources and tools.
  7. Collaborate with the IT unit and academic departments to enhance library services and user experience.

Requirements

  1. A Master’s Degree in Information Systems / Information Management / Information System Management.
  2. Basic experience or a strong interest in digital technologies.
  3. Familiarity with LMS platforms (e.g., Koha, DSpace, Moodle, or similar) will be an added advantage.
  4. Knowledge of metadata standards and digital library practices.
  5. Strong IT, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  6. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Minimum of 01–02 years of experience in a library environment.
