Chief Legal and Governance Officer

Our client is a reputed international technology service provider and is on the lookout for a dynamic individual and strategic thinker to take on the role of Chief Legal and Governance Officer.

Responsibilities

• Able to professionally guide legal and regulatory matters for the business, navigate complexity, mitigate risk and manage governance on regulatory and legal issues
• As a strategist, the incumbent should create a solid legal framework to enable the senior management team to achieve business growth objectives
• Build strong networks with the leadership teams and proactively address changes in regulatory requirements and public policy whilst ensuring such changes are strategically aligned with the legal framework to support growth
• As a catalyst monitor business processes whilst developing the corporate risk profile and a strong company-wide compliance framework
• Advise on business solutions within the legal framework and build a strong corporate culture that is aligned with the company’s values around compliance and integrity
• Innovate legal value-added services to increase client satisfaction and service standards
• Develop and implement key performance metrics for the legal organization and its outside counsel
• Identify skill and subject matter expertise gaps, and develop plans to fill them; identify and implement technology solutions for the legal department
• Refine the legal operations model to increase the effectiveness of legal services

Qualifications & Experience

• Candidate should be between 36 and 48 years
• A recognized university law degree (LL.B) / Attorney-at-Law with a license to practice Law in Sri Lanka
• A Master’s degree from a recognized university will be an added qualification
• Should have a minimum of 8 years post-qualification experience with a minimum of 05 years experience in a managerial capacity
• The candidate is expected to exhibit professionalism, exceptional communication, and leadership skills
• Exceptional PR skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships across all levels of the organization and customers
• Strong analytical skills, a probing mind, and good report-writing skills
