Head of Language Centre

We are seeking a hard-working, highly motivated, and dedicated individual to guide the language provision at the Colombo School of Business Management (CSBM). This is a strategic role, leading and managing a team of experienced linguists, and taking responsibility for the delivery of a pedagogically robust, inclusive, and relevant language provision, which understands and meets students’ needs.
The candidate must be marketing oriented to promote the language to relevant sectors as well as be able to negotiate accreditation and examination facilities for us as a center.

Qualification & Experience

• A degree related to language teaching or language literacy
• More than 3 years of experience as Language center head or in a parallel capacity
• GCE Advanced level qualification m Language stream
• Teaching experience an advantage (in English or foreign language)

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership and management of Modern Foreign Languages in order to secure high-quality teaching.
• Design and obtain approval of standards for language syllabuses.
• Obtain suitable accreditations from institutes for all languages being conducted.
• Promote approved languages to relevant sectors.
• Assist in the recruitment and selection of teaching staff.
• Use performance management to help develop a successful, well-qualified, and inspirational department.
• Planned, delegated, and evaluated work carried out by members of the department.
• Create, maintain and enhance effective relationships.
• Evaluate the quality of teaching and standards of achievement, setting targets for improvement
• Secure and allocate resources to support effective learning and teaching within the subject area.
• Monitor and control the use of resources.
