Site engineer / technical officer cum draftsman

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced professionals for immediate employment to support our consultancy team for the ongoing construction project – extension of the existing quay wall, construction of access road and boundary wall at Valaichchenai Fishery Harbour, Batticaloa.

The assignment involves project management and construction supervision.

n

The following professionals are urgently required for the ongoing project. Prior experience in marine/coastal construction, harbour works, infrastructure construction, and quantity surveying will be an added advantage.

Candidates from all areas of Sri Lanka are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those who are willing and able to work on full-time, site-based positions.

Accommodation: accommodation arrangements will be provided for selected candidates from outside the project area.

n

18 person-months – full-time, site-based

Qualifications & experience

n

• BSc in civil engineering, with professional chartered status (chartered engineer under IESL).

n

• Minimum 5 years of construction project experience.

n

• Experience in infrastructure, marine, coastal or harbour construction is preferred.

n

• Prior experience in quantity surveying, site measurements and construction supervision will be an added advantage.

n

Key responsibilities

n

n
• Conduct continuous daily inspections of marine, harbour and boundary-wall construction works.

n

• Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements and good construction practices.

n

• Issue technical instructions and clarifications to the contractor to support project progress.

n

• Monitor contractor deployment of labour, equipment, plant and materials against the approved programme.

n

• Report site conditions, resource status and progress variances to the resident engineer.

n

• Conduct joint field measurements and ensure accurate recording for joint measurement records (JMRs).

n

• Assist in monitoring quantities, completed works and site measurements.

n

• Ensure compliance with environmental parameters, safety requirements and CEMP protocols during site activities.

Technical officer cum draftsman

19 person-months – full-time, site-based

Qualifications & experience

• NDT / NDES / HNDE in civil engineering.

n

• Minimum 5 years of experience in technical drafting, structural layouts and workmanship supervision.

n

• Experience in marine, coastal or harbour construction will be an added advantage.

n

• Experience in quantity measurements and construction site supervision will be an added advantage.

Key responsibilities

n

• Inspect ongoing construction activities and ensure the quality of works.

n

• Review contractor-submitted working, structural, architectural and shop drawings against the original design intent and actual site/lagoon profiles.

n

• Prepare design adjustments and technical revisions as directed by the resident engineer.

n

• Examine, cross-check, update and modify contractor as-built drawings and operation manuals.

n

• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of as-built documentation prior to final contract close-out.

n

• Assist the site engineer in supervising field construction activities.

n

• Monitor contractor progress and support site measurement and quantity verification activities when required.

n
