Sinhala Language Teacher (3 Hours Per Week)

Main mission
To teach the fundamentals of the Sinhala language to primary school students, enabling them to interact more easily within the host country and gain a better understanding of the local culture.
Responsibilities
Lesson preparation
- Develop an age-appropriate curriculum.
- Prepare a variety of engaging teaching materials and resources.
Teaching
- Deliver 3 hours of Sinhala lessons per week.
- Introduce students to Sinhala grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation using interactive and engaging teaching methods.
Assessment
- Assess students’ progress regularly.
- Adapt teaching methods and content according to students’ needs and learning outcomes.
Cultural awareness
- Incorporate elements of Sri Lankan culture into lessons.
- Encourage projects and activities related to Sinhala language and culture.
Communication
- Provide regular feedback to parents on students’ progress.
- Collaborate with the teaching staff and school administration.
Required skills
- Excellent command of Sinhala (spoken and written).
- Teaching experience, preferably in a school environment.
- Ability to work effectively with children and create a positive learning environment.
- Strong organisational skills and creativity.
Qualifications
- Degree or qualification in education, linguistics, Sinhala studies, or a related field (preferred).
- Previous experience teaching languages is an asset.
