Project Manager – ERP Implementation
Melwa Cement (Pvt) Ltd is establishing a state-of-the-art greenfield cement manufacturing facility and is seeking a highly experienced, dynamic, and results-driven professional to lead the implementation and operations of SAP Business One (SAP B1) across the organization.
Position summary
The selected candidate will serve as the internal single point of contact (SPOC) for the complete SAP B1 implementation lifecycle — from project planning and implementation to go-live, post-implementation support, system enhancements, and operational excellence.
The role requires close collaboration with senior management, plant operations, finance, procurement, production teams, and external SAP implementation partners to ensure successful ERP integration across all business functions.
Key responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end SAP B1 implementation across finance, procurement, inventory, production, and sales modules.
- Manage project scope, timelines, milestones, risks, and deliverables in coordination with SAP implementation partners.
- Oversee data migration activities using DTW including BOMs, materials, vendors, customers, and opening balances.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) and execute smooth go-live activities with minimal operational disruption.
- Develop and optimize ERP workflows aligned with manufacturing and cement industry operations.
- Liaise with SAP vendors regarding configurations, custom developments, integrations, and enhancements.
- Oversee integrations with weighbridge systems, SCADA/DCS, QMS systems, and third-party applications.
- Ensure compliance with VAT, e-invoicing, withholding tax, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Conduct end-user training programs and drive ERP change management initiatives across the organization.
- Manage AMC support, system upgrades, KPI dashboards, MIS reporting, and continuous system improvements.
Requirements & qualifications
Educational qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical / industrial / chemical / IT), commerce, or management from a recognized university in Sri Lanka.
- Or
- A full or part qualification in CIMA / CA Sri Lanka / ACCA / MBA (finance or operations) from a recognized professional body or university.
Experience
- Minimum 7–10 years of overall professional experience.
- Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on experience in SAP Business One (SAP B1).
- Experience in at least 2 full-cycle SAP B1 implementations (blueprint → go-live → stabilization).
- Manufacturing industry experience is mandatory.
- Prior exposure to cement, building materials, or heavy industry is highly preferred.
Technical skills
Strong functional knowledge in SAP B1 modules: Finance (AR/AP/GL), Procurement (PO/GRPO), Inventory management, Production (BOM/work orders), Sales (SO/delivery/invoice).
- Hands-on experience with:
- DTW (data transfer workbench)
- Crystal reports
- SAP B1 query manager
- Exposure to SAP B1 SDK, DI API, or service layer integrations will be an added advantage.

Good to have
- Exposure to cement or mining ERP workflows (clinker production, raw material planning, kiln tracking, dealer management).
- Familiarity with weighbridge, SCADA/DCS, or QMS integration with SAP B1.
- Experience with SAP B1 add-ons such as Boyum IT, Taskcentre, or similar.
