Project Manager

Closing on: Oct 5, 2026

Role overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the delivery of the Lanka-Link platform. The platform will be built by an appointed software development company, who will handle all technical design and development. The Project Manager’s role is to monitor the project, keep it on track against agreed milestones, and act as the central point of coordination between the development company, third-party vendors, corporate clients, and GS1 Lanka management.

This is a monitoring and coordination role. The candidate is not required to design, develop, or make technical decisions — those responsibilities sit with the development company. What is required is the ability to manage timelines, hold parties accountable to deliverables, coordinate stakeholders, and report clearly to management.

Responsibilities

  1. Monitor overall project progress and ensure delivery stays on track against the agreed plan and milestones.
  2. Track and follow up on project milestones, deliverables, and deadlines, flagging slippage or risks early.
  3. Act as the main liaison with the appointed software development company, holding them accountable to scope, timelines, and quality.
  4. Coordinate with third-party vendors and technology partners, managing their deliverables and timelines.
  5. Work with corporate clients and partners (e.g. retailers and enterprise platforms such as Daraz, Keells, and Cargills-type organisations) to align expectations and gather requirements.
  6. Facilitate communication between all parties – development company, vendors, clients, and management – ensuring everyone stays aligned.
  7. Identify and escalate blockers, risks, and issues, and follow them through to resolution.
  8. Prepare and present regular status reports and updates to GS1 Lanka management.
  9. Maintain project documentation, including plans, schedules, meeting records, and a clear record of decisions and changes.
  10. Ensure the project meets its agreed objectives and timelines through to completion.

Requirements

  1. Proven experience managing or monitoring projects, ideally involving software or technology deliverables.
  2. Strong stakeholder coordination skills, with experience working across vendors, corporate clients, and internal management.
  3. Ability to track milestones, manage timelines, and hold third parties accountable to commitments.
  4. A basic understanding of software/technology projects — enough to follow progress and ask the right questions (no technical, architecture, or coding ability required).
  5. Excellent communication, organisation, and reporting skills.
  6. A proactive, detail-oriented approach to following up on tasks and resolving issues.

Application requirements

Applicants are requested to submit:

  1. Updated CV / portfolio.
  2. Details of previous project management or project monitoring experience, particularly involving software or technology deliverables.
  3. Examples of projects where you coordinated vendors, clients, and internal teams, including your role and the outcomes achieved.
