Accountant

Amal International School is seeking a qualified and experienced accountant to join our finance division. We are looking for a highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented professional to manage our financial operations and contribute to the school’s continued growth and success.

Key responsibilities

1. Develop the overall financial goals and objectives.
2. Manage finance department staff to achieve financial goals.
3. Oversee preparation of financial records related to general ledger, payroll, budget, expense, etc.
4. Maintain accurate records of cash withdrawals and deposits to bank accounts.
5. Monitor and manage expenses within allotted budgets.
6. Follow standard accounting process for financial analysis and reporting activities.
7. Perform account reconciliations and generate financial reports.
8. Assist in accounts receivable and payable activities including fees collection.
9. Evaluate existing accounting system and recommend improvements, if required.
10. Identify and resolve invoicing issues, accounting discrepancies and other financial related problems.
11. Track and monitor resource needs and other material needs for carrying out financial and administration tasks.
12. Assist in developing and managing budgeting system.

Key qualifications & requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in finance / accounting / from a recognized university.
2. Minimum three (3) years of experience in the relevant position or professional qualification in finance / accounting with five (5) years of experience.
3. Knowledge of Sri Lanka accounting standards (SLFRS/LKAS).
4. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
5. High level of accuracy in financial reporting and data management.
6. Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. We prefer a Muslim candidate for this position. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of Muslim financial policies and practices.
