Finance executive – remote

Talent Accounting & Taxation Pty Ltd is an Australian-based accounting and taxation firm seeking a highly self-disciplined and detail-oriented offshore finance executive to join our remote team.

This role operates in a structured, deadline-driven environment. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, manage time effectively, and consistently meet deadlines, reporting requirements, and timesheet obligations. This is a performance-driven position that requires strong attention to detail, accountability, and proactive communication.

Key responsibilities

  1. Perform bank reconciliations.
  2. Process supplier bills and customer invoices.
  3. Maintain accurate bookkeeping records and account coding.
  4. Process payroll and maintain payroll records.
  5. Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS.
  6. Perform GST, PAYG, superannuation, and account reconciliations.
  7. Assist in the preparation of financial statements and supporting working papers.
  8. Meet internal workflow and client deadlines.
  9. Complete daily timesheets and provide regular progress reports.

Candidate requirements

  1. Minimum 2 years of experience working in a finance & accounting outsourcing/BPO environment servicing overseas clients.
  2. Demonstrated ability to perform bank reconciliations, GST, prepare financial statements and supporting working papers.
  3. Strong working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks online, and MYOB.
  4. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, reconciliations, data analysis, and report preparation.
  5. Experience preparing BAS, IAS, GST reconciliations, and indirect tax reports.
  6. Practical experience processing payroll and managing superannuation compliance.
  7. Strong organisational and time management skills.
  8. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  9. Ability to work independently in a highly structured and deadline-driven environment.
  10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  11. Daily timesheet completion and structured progress reporting are mandatory requirements of this position.
  12. A bookkeeping assessment will be required for shortlisted candidates following the interview process.

Preferred qualifications

  1. Male candidate preferred.
  2. Resident of Colombo or surrounding areas.
  3. Previous experience working with an Australian public practice accounting firm.
  4. Strong written English communication skills.
  5. Ability to maintain focus and productivity while working remotely.
  6. Reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.
  7. High level of professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail.
