Research & Development Executive

A leading LED import and distribution company in Colombo is seeking a Research & Business Development Executive to drive innovation, identify global trends, and generate business growth opportunities.

Key responsibilities

R&D & product innovation

1. Define and execute R&D strategy aligned with company objectives.
2. Lead, mentor, and develop R&D and technical teams.
3. Drive innovation in product design, materials, and formulations.
4. Manage the full product lifecycle, from concept to production.
5. Optimize product performance, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
6. Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality, and safety standards.
7. Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and research partners.
8. Manage budgets, timelines, and technical risks effectively.

Business development & research

1. Conduct in-depth research on markets, industries, and global trends.
2. Identify new business opportunities and growth areas.
3. Develop innovative project concepts.
4. Support product/service improvements based on research insights.
5. Convert research findings into actionable strategies.
6. Prepare reports, proposals, and presentations to support decision-making.
7. Contribute to business development initiatives and market expansion.

Requirements & qualifications

1. Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, marketing, or a related field.
2. Experience: Minimum 1 year in research, analysis, or business development (mandatory).
3. Senior-level R&D leadership experience preferred (plastic or rubber manufacturing advantageous).
4. Expertise in materials science, product development, or process engineering.
5. Proven ability to take products from concept to full-scale production.
6. Strong strategic thinking and hands-on problem-solving skills.
7. Good knowledge of English communication is a must.
8. Experience in LED lighting technology (mandatory).
9. Degree or professional certifications are an advantage.
