Safety & compliance officer

About the company

We are a leading manufacturer, exporter, importer & supplier of premium quality veterinary health products to the livestock industry of Sri Lanka and to the international market, and are looking for energetic, ambitious & self-motivated candidate to be a part of energetic Farmchemie team as, safety & compliance officer.

Key responsibilities

1. Implement and monitor compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and Environmental regulations.
2. Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits across all plant operations.
3. Lead incident investigations and manage reporting, corrective actions, and safety performance tracking.
4. Develop and deliver training programs to promote a safety-first culture.
5. Support the implementation of ISO 45001 (OHSMS) and ISO 14001 (EMS) standards.
6. Ensure proper management of waste disposal, effluent treatment, and environmental compliance.

Qualifications & experience

1. Diploma or degree in occupational health & safety, environmental science, chemical engineering, or a related field.
2. Professional certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, or ISO 45001 lead auditor are highly desirable.
3. 2–5 years of experience in industrial safety—preferably in the pharmaceutical, food, or chemical manufacturing sector.
4. Proven experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.
5. In-depth knowledge of OHS laws, GMP/GxP, and emergency response procedures.
6. Strong communication and training facilitation skills.
7. Analytical mindset with strong report-writing and documentation abilities.
8. Proficient in MS Office and EHS management systems.
9. A proactive leader with the ability to influence safe work practices at all levels.
