About the company

We are a BOI-approved, export-oriented, horticulture-based company, established in Sri Lanka in 1997 and recognized as world leaders in our field. We require the services of a dynamic, results-oriented individual with a proven track record in managing construction projects, ideally for high-quality production facilities. We produce and export live plants on a just-in-time basis; thus, our new tissue culture facility must be built to precise standards, with efficient, well-coordinated operations.

We are seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join our team as Project Manager. The successful candidate will lead the planning, construction, and commissioning of our new state-of-the-art tissue culture facility, coordinating internal and external stakeholders and ensuring timely delivery within budget.

  3. Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders to ensure the facility meets all specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  4. Monitor construction progress, conduct site inspections, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality control procedures.
  5. Oversee procurement and installation of specialized equipment, materials, and utilities required for tissue culture laboratories and controlled environments.
  6. Prepare regular progress reports, maintain project documentation, and communicate updates to senior management and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  1. A degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction management, project management, or a related field. Professional qualifications such as PMP or membership in a recognized engineering body will be an advantage.
  2. At least 5-8 years of experience managing construction projects, with a track record of delivering high-quality industrial or laboratory facilities on schedule and within budget.
  3. Experience working with the design and construction of controlled environment facilities (e.g., laboratories, clean rooms, or greenhouses) will be a distinct advantage.

Experience

  1. Proven ability to develop and manage project budgets and schedules, and coordinate with multiple contractors and subcontractors.
  2. Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and quality control processes, and the ability to enforce them.
  3. Experience in resource management, procurement, contract negotiation, and risk management.
  4. Knowledge of horticulture or tissue culture processes will be a plus, but is not mandatory.

Skills & competencies

  1. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  2. Excellent project management skills, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and problem-solving.
  3. Excellent communication skills in English – both written and spoken.
  4. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project or similar) and basic computer applications such as MS Excel.

  1. Age: Preferably below 45 years.
  2. Accommodation: Bachelor accommodation and meals will be provided.
