Chief operating officer – COO

About the company

Firex, a market leader in Sri Lanka and the Maldives representing world’s leading brands and specializing in intelligent building systems including life safety systems (Fire, Security and Building Management Systems) – is seeking an accomplished Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Key responsibilities

1. Operational leadership: Provide strategic oversight and day-to-day management across the Fire, Security, and BMS (Building Management System) divisions.
2. Execution & profitability: Ensure seamless project delivery, optimize supply chain resilience, and implement rigorous cost-optimization frameworks to drive margins.
3. Organizational governance: Strengthen efficiency and accountability by implementing structured management systems, KPIs, and performance tracking.
4. Strategic alignment: Facilitate executive decision-making by ensuring the reliable delivery of all servicing and project operations in line with corporate goals.
5. Talent development: Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary teams, fostering a culture of high performance and professional growth.

Candidate profile

1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mandatory). An MBA or postgraduate management qualification is highly desirable.
2. Industry expertise: Demonstrated leadership experience (two years) within the Fire, Security and Building Management Systems or specialized engineering sectors.
3. Proven track record: Extensive experience in managing complex technical operations and leading diverse, high-performing teams.
4. Age: Preferably between 38 – 45.
