Associate Manager – Environmental Health & Safety

This position is mainly responsible to assist the manager EHS and the management of environment health & safety, related to all operations at Ansell Textiles Lanka. This includes upholding all standards related to environment, health, and safety to create zero harm culture ensuring that all ATL-owned sites remain free from environmental pollution, health hazards, and unsafe working conditions and practices. Also, to be a lead position for zero harm culture change and effective environment management.

Responsibilities & specific accountabilities

1. Support the development, updating, and implementation of environment, health, safety (EHS), and property protection policies and procedures in line with corporate standards
2. Support and guide the EHS team in managing daily safety, health, and environmental activities in collaboration with the EHS manager and global EHS team
3. Coordinate safety reporting, accident investigations, corrective and preventive actions, and lesson-learned reporting
4. Assist the EHS manager in closing actions from internal and external audits and regularly track progress
5. Coach and support employees and operational teams on EHS risk identification, risk assessment, and control measures
6. Support compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, ZWLF and other audits such as WRAP, SMETA, and CTPAT
7. Coordinate the implementation of legal and regulatory EHS requirements
8. Support risk assessments related to new products, new processes, process changes, and facility modifications
9. Promote a strong safety culture through safety campaigns, awareness programs, and employee engagement activities
10. Organize and conduct EHS training and orientation programs for employees, contractors, and visitors
11. Support investigation of workplace incidents and recommend corrective actions
12. Monitor EHS KPIs and provide regular updates to management
13. Coordinate routine safety inspections and follow up on corrective actions
14. Support safety committee meetings and monitor EHS-related corrective action plans
15. Monitor outsourced service providers to ensure compliance with corporate and legal EHS standards
16. Support EHS pillar activities, health checks, and assessments across the site

Required qualifications

1. V-degree holder in EHS, science, engineering or related stream.
2. NIBOSH IGC certification
3. Expertise on the ISO14001, 50001,45001 standard and safety, health & environmental regulations of Sri Lanka
4. 3-4 years operations experience with involvement in environment, health & safety related initiatives and projects
5. 2-3 years compliance audit involvement experience and engagement with legal entities such as BOI, CEA, DFIE projects
6. Thorough knowledge on environmental, health, safety and risk management standards.
7. Good communicator with sound problem solving and presentation skills
8. Good at respectfully challenging paradigms and being a change agent.
9. Fluent in English and Sinhala.
