Finance and Administration Officer

This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible, and fully supportive of the mission of FISD. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities

  1. Ensure all financial transactions and documentation are carried out on time, following the organization’s policies & procedures and any donor requirements.
  2. Ensure that all financial records are maintained in compliance with generally accepted policies and procedures.
  3. Making payments to suppliers promptly and ensuring they are recorded in the accounting software.
  4. Arrange staff monthly payroll on time and disburse, statutory payments & submit monthly/annual EPF/ETF and PAYEE schedules.
  5. Ensuring that all transactions are captured and processed via prime documents (receipts/payment vouchers/journal vouchers) and appropriate source documents are attached thereto.
  6. In consultation with the finance manager, develop and maintain systems and procedures that provide for the effective, efficient, and economical delivery of financial management services and operating results for the company.
  7. Facilitate the auditing function (project and annual audits) by coordinating with the respective parties.
  8. Providing administrative and logistical support to company events and meetings as relevant.
  9. Regular monitoring visits to field locations.
  10. Assist in preparing quarterly/annual NGO reports.
  11. Work independently with minimal assistance.
  12. Perform any other duties when and where necessary.

Qualifications and requirements

  1. Partly qualified in CA/CIMA/or fully qualified in AAT or equivalent.
  2. Minimum 5 years prior working experience, preferably in the development sector.
  3. Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures.
  4. Computer literate (MS Office) with knowledge of accounting packages-Quick books.
  5. Effective communication skills.
  6. Proficient knowledge of office administration work.
  7. Ability to work under pressure & multi-task.

Foundation for Innovative Social Development (FISD) is a non-governmental organization founded in 2011. FISD is registered as a company limited by guarantee under the democratic socialist republic of Sri Lanka. Our vision is to create empowered communities to enjoy rights, justice, and equity in a dynamic Sri Lanka. We have been empowering communities mainly through three thematic areas, including the prevention of drugs and alcohol, the protection and promotion of child rights, and gender and development (with particular focus on the prevention of gender-based violence). We currently carry out our fieldwork in Colombo, Anuradhapura, Hambanthota, Kandy, Monaragala, Badulla, Nuwaraeliya, Mannar, Kilinochchi districts with a head office based in Mirihana, Colombo.
