Group Financial Controller

The role
Reporting directly to senior leadership, the selected candidate will play a key strategic role in strengthening financial performance, improving controls, enhancing reporting systems, and supporting future growth initiatives across multiple business entities.
You will lead the finance function and partner closely with management in delivering operational excellence, profitability, and long-term value creation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead all group finance, accounting, treasury, and reporting functions
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and working capital management
- Strengthen internal controls, audit readiness, and governance frameworks
- Drive ERP optimization, MIS reporting, and data-led decision making
- Support strategic planning, restructuring, banking relationships, and investments
- Improve business processes and financial discipline across group companies
- Mentor and develop high-performing finance teams
- Liaise with auditors, banks, tax advisors, regulators, and overseas partners
Ideal candidate profile
We are seeking a high-caliber finance professional with strong leadership capability and commercial acumen.
Qualifications
- Member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, CIMA, ACCA, or an equivalent recognized professional body
- MBA or degree in finance / accounting / business management would be an advantage
Experience & skills
- 8+ years senior finance leadership experience, ideally within a group structure
- Proven track record in financial control, management reporting, and cash flow management
- Strong understanding of ERP systems and digital finance tools
- Experience in exports, trading, manufacturing, FMCG, or commodities preferred
- Exposure to restructuring, banking negotiations, or turnaround environments is highly desirable
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- High integrity, resilience, and ability to perform in a fast-moving environment
The role may require periodic international travel to support overseas associate companies and strategic business interests.
