Executive – Trade and Partnership

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Trade & Partnerships Executive to support the Chamber’s trade facilitation, investment promotion, and advocacy initiatives. The role requires strong research, stakeholder coordination, and communication skills to deliver value to members, European partners, and institutional stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Trade & investment facilitation

  1. Manage and be responsible for the trade helpdesk service at the secretariat.
  2. Assist ECCSL members in identifying business partners and sector-specific contacts.
  3. Facilitate business linkages through organizational networks.
  4. Organize and coordinate incoming business delegations from European countries to Sri Lanka.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with commercial staff of European missions in Sri Lanka.
  6. Liaise and coordinate with existing trade partners.
  7. Promote and establish trade relationships with European countries for helpdesk and business support services.

Research & member services

  1. Conduct research and provide market intelligence.
  2. Handle help desk inquiries and respond to member and non-member requests.

Advocacy & stakeholder engagement

  1. Provide advocacy support on issues affecting ECCSL members by engaging with government authorities and stakeholders.
  2. Assist the European delegation on advocacy matters and preparation of related documentation when required.
  3. Coordinate with EU member states and their representatives in organizing activities in Sri Lanka.
  4. Support and engage with advocacy officers on key initiatives.
  5. Act as the main driver of the EU-Sri Lanka investor dialogue, including collating member issues and insights.
  6. Represent ECCSL at meetings/events with government and stakeholders when required.
  7. Maintain strong, professional relationships with the European delegation.
  8. Coordinate activities of ECCSL’s sectoral committees.

Publication & editorial responsibilities

  1. Oversee the marketing and overall responsibility of the monthly newsletter.
  2. Contribute editorial content and source advertisements for the publication.
  3. Ensure high-quality production and timely distribution of the newsletter.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in international business, economics, political science, marketing, or a related field.
  2. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in trade promotion, research, advocacy, or stakeholder engagement.
  3. Strong research, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  5. Ability to engage with government authorities, diplomatic missions, and private sector stakeholders.
  6. Experience in content creation (web, newsletters, publications) is an advantage.
  7. Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
