About the job Role We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to oversee a multifaceted role covering Wharf Operations, Customs Clearance, Documentation, and IT Development. This pivotal position requires a candidate with a strong background in supply chain management, customs regulations, documentation procedures, and IT development within the wharf and logistics sector.
Key Responsibilities:
• Supervise and optimize daily wharf activities, ensuring efficient loading and unloading of goods.
• Manage customs clearance processes, liaising with relevant authorities to ensure timely clearance of shipments. Stay updated on customs regulations and implement procedures for compliance.
• Oversee the documentation team responsible for preparing, reviewing, and maintaining accurate records for all shipments.
• Collaborate with the IT department to identify opportunities for system enhancements related to wharf, clearance, and documentation processes.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders, including customs officials and IT service providers.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, IT or a related field.
• Proven experience in managing wharf operations, customs clearance, documentation and IT development.
• In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, documentation requirements, and IT systems within the logistics domain. • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on process optimization.
• Proficiency in IT systems and software relevant to logistics operations.
• Proficient in daily interactions and coordination with Sri Lanka Customs.
