Conveyancer

A respected UK-based law firm that carries out conveyancing services in the UK the market is seeking a licensed conveyancer, who can take the responsibilities in advising clients on all aspects of the buying or selling process, including legal issues, finances, and contracts. Your day-to-day activities will involve a great deal of research and drafting documents, as well as speaking with clients and giving legal advice.

In late 2019, this UK-based company acquired a Sri Lankan company and initiated its operations in Sri Lanka. The functions handled by our Sri Lankan office include legal documentation, client relationship management, and conveyancing. Apart from the stated main operational functions, the Colombo office handles the administrative functions, in line with our UK office.

Job Responsibility

• Communicating with clients to receive instructions and give advice
• Research details about the property being bought or sold, such as finding out who is the legal owner
• Drafting official documents, such as contracts which include details of the sale
• Checking contracts on behalf of your clients
• Working with estate agents and solicitors
• Keeping official records of payments and contracts
• Working with Land Registry documents and title deeds
• Carrying out checks prior to drafting contracts to see if there are any structural issues with the property
• Dealing with the transfer of mortgage deeds

Job Requirements

• LLB Qualified
• High proficiency in English both verbal and written
• Minimum 01-02 years of experience in a similar capacity
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
• Ability to work according to the UK business calendar and working hours (13.30 – 22.00)
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop a good rapport with all internal and external customers
