FUNCTION: As a Counsellor, you are required to work with employees to help them overcome and manage different mental and emotional challenges they face in and outside of the factory environment. You will simply meet with employees to listen to their problems and diagnose their mental state and seek to help them to understand themselves better and find their own ways to cope or to resolve problems. The nature of problems encountered by employees varies according to the setting. The goal is to empathize with them, encourage them and empower each individual to overcome their difficulties in order to maintain an uninterrupted workflow and contribute to the sustainability of the overall mental health within the factory environment.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Maintain healthy relationship with employees to provide conflict resolutions at work and personal 
  • Conduct sessions 3 times a week (8 hrs. a day) 
  • Involve in training sessions of new recruits to educate on the importance of “Mental health awareness at workplace” 
  • Maintain and analyze records to provide insights and advice to improve overall wellbeing of employees. 
  • Handle Grievances of the employees & Conduct Counselling Sessions as required to improve mental health
  • through resolving employee issues or concerns. 
  • Take a holistic (mind and body) approach to improve the mental health care of employees 
  • Carry out Independent case studies to find reasons for employee turnover and provide solutions. 
  • People Training – Leaders / Supervisors/ HODs/ Managers on Counselling

Requirements

  • Possess a degree in psychology or relevant field from a recognized university / institute & a diploma in counselling. 
  • High degree of confidentiality and ability to uphold high ethical standards is a must 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field. (Preferably in the Manufacturing and / or Apparel industry having dealt with female workers in garment factories) 
  • Certified practitioner in counselling 
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication skills (Especially in Sinhala)
