Responsibilities

• Define, document, and clearly articulate the standards, best practices, and technology decisions to the stakeholders, management, and development team.
• Own the responsibility of bringing the suitable technology and tools and implementing them as and when required.
• Continuously monitor performance and health of the client databases in order to provide optimum database throughput to end users.
• provide technical guidance and thought leadership to tech leads and developers When carrying schema changes, designing new modules/applications, and upgrading databases to new versions/platforms.
• Concern with backups, security, patches, and replication on production environments.
• Design schemas, build tables indexes, data structures, and relationships for existing and newly built applications.
• provide optimum TSQL queries for applications and reports and frequently share statistics/reports With the development team on table locks, expensive table joins, and resource heavy queries.
• Install and test new versions of the database management system (DBMS) and tools.
• Maintain documentation on data dictionaries (metadata), standards, best practices, and definitions.
• Control access permissions and privileges.
• Develop, manage and test backup and recovery plans.
• Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly on regular basis.
• Communicate regularly with technical, applications, and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
• Own and manage the security and disaster recovery aspects Of the databases.

Requirements

• Should possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science or certification in database stream and Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA).
• Minimum of 04 years hands-on industry experience working as a DBA especially with MS SQL server.
• Sound knowledge in industry standards and prior experience in implementing the same in production environments. and awareness in data backups, recovery, security, integrity, and performance optimization at DBA capacity.
• Sound knowledge in database design, documentation, and TSQL query writing and hands-on experience with DBA tools and industry-leading third-party tools.
• Sound problem solving, analytical, leadership, and communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) are mandatory.
• Familiarity With programming languages and experience in data warehousing and their concepts would be a plus.
